1950s Purple rhinestone ear climber earrings
In the 1950s, a most unusual earring trend took hold with earrings that followed the ear line, climbing up the side of the ears along the curve. These earrings sometimes covered the entire ear, “rising around and above it in an upward climbing movement. Some earring designs had single elements like our earrings featured here, while others were multi-branch-like designs. These earrings were also called “contour earrings.” They were said to be “large and impressive.” They follow an elongated pattern as they rise and outline the lobe of the ear.
