Contour Earrings: Ear Climbers
November 1, 2021Priority Metals and The 1950s
January 10, 2022This is an exciting topic. Did Henkel & Grosse manufacture jewelry for Schiaparelli? Recently, I commenced research studying Henkel & Grosse and have been obtaining ads for Grosse. Henkel & Grosse, the parent firm of Grosse Jewels, New York, held the license to produce Dior jewelry since 1955. My research commenced because I’ve yet to find any documentation that Henkel and Gross made costume jewelry for Schiaparelli. We see many pieces with this attribution, but the company that manufactured the U.S.-made Schiaparelli jewelry was not Henkel & Grosse (German). By the mid-1950s, Schiaparelli had already closed her business in Europe (if I remember correctly). The jewelry with the H & G for Schiap. attribution is c. 1950s. I’ve yet to pull all the pieces together, but I’d love to see concrete evidence of Henkel & Gross manufacturing jewelry for Schiaparelli.
